Face it. Hambone wore the yellow camera housing that signifies the number two driver of a team in 2022, making Russell the number one driver. Russell proved he earned that position by finishing above Hambone in the Driver’s Championship.
Hambone may not come back for 2023, but if he does it will be his last year. Mercedes signed Mick Schumacher as reserve driver for 2023, and will be anxious to have a German driver in their German car, so Hambone is on the way O-U-T.
