Would I be correct in stating that the the aluminum ratio only dates the supernova remnant that helped form the dust cloud that eventually formed the solar system?
Or am I off base here?

It does not date the supernova or solar system at all. What it purports to date is the relative formation of minerals, particles and aggregates as the solar system condensed. Al-26 has a too short half-life to measure the billions of years since.
