Sen. Hutchison, Please turn the lights off when you leave DC. It's time Gov Perry appointed a 'real' conservative to represent Texas in the Senate.

Now, BYE!!!!

It sounds like Perry should be the senator. That would be good for all of us. It wasn’t made clear in the article . . . does Hutchinson remain in the Senate, then?

yes KBH stays in the Senate until she either resigns which she said she was going to do or until her term is up in 2012.

A couple line vanity and you didn’t understand?..... lol

Perry Senator, I don’t think that will happen and he’d be about as bad as KBH if he was in DC.

The senate seat is up for election in 2012. If she resigns at some point as she has said she would then Perry can/will appt a temp senator to hold the job until a special election can be held to fill the seat comes up for election in 2012. Timing of KBH’s resignation is critial to when the special election could be held. The next ‘uniform election’ date that fits the schedule if she resigns fairly soon would be Nov. 2, 2010. That election would be a ‘jungle’ type in which all candidates would run head up with a majority needed to win. If no majority then the top two vote getters are in a runoff.

"yes KBH stays in the Senate until she either resigns which she said she was going to do or until her term is up in 2012."

I wish she would have left the Senate in October or November 2009 as she stated she was going to.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) said Wednesday she’s stepping down from the Senate this fall to pursue her gubernatorial campaign, setting the stage for a Texas-sized senatorial battle next spring. Hutchison told POLITICO that she’s planning to leave the Senate in October or November Politico 7/29/2009

KBH will have to be bound and gagged to get her out of DC. You are about to see what she is about with the upcoming announcement that she has decided to stay in the Senate and fight for Texas.

What decided her to run for Governor? She can remain in the Senate as long as she wants. What was the reason she wanted to leave??

In an interview on a Dallas AM radio station, she was asked that question. Her response was "I want to save the Republican Party". How lame is that?!?!
She's a RINO of the first order. This foolish attempt to unseat a relatively popular governor will end in a primary challenge in 2012 and her defeat.
Her RINO ways were exposed during the campaign. I doubt she'll resign but she should.
HOPEFULLY, her days are very numbered.

I’veheard she didn’t want to raise her young daughters in Washingron.

I was astonishd to learn she has young daughters (adopted).

“Michael Williams for Senate......”

Alternative would be Dan Patrick. A very good conservative.

"I want to save the Republican Party"

Of course she means to save it in it's present state of pathetic condition. It's her meal ticket.

She may not finish out her term.

But, while the governor gets to appoint a replacement, it also ensures an open field in the special election (multiple Republicans and Democrats can be on the ballot, top two go to runoff). More Republicans have indicated an interest and it is possible that it could come down to a Republican and a Democrat with the Republican candidate getting there with 20% support.

We need to press Bill White on his candidacies. Currently he’s running for Governor and US Senator. Which office does he really want? Will he still run for Senate if he wins the governor’s mansion?

http://www.billwhitefortexas.com/2009/03/senate-race-could-mirror-1961-upset-when-lbjs-seat-vacated.html

“The activists gathered to meet Houston Mayor Bill White, who plans to run for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s seat, which he believes she will vacate to run against Gov. Rick Perry.”

Thanks - I was wondering if she had given up her Senate seat to run for governor.
