Funny... But the Blue Ridge Mountains aren’t home to what you call “flatlanders”. They called us Ridge Runners when I was growing up (and hick, hillbilly, redneck, etc.).
“Ridge Runner” is one of my nicknames - I grew up on a ‘Ridge Road’ - live on one now too...and I love to meander...
