This is a rare phenomenon that has been filmed only this once. After 4 years, this unsolved mystery that some call either a "Sand Geyser", "Sand Fountain", or a "Sand Volcano" has yet to be solved. It is quite interesting to see, and to offer your theory as to what caused it......

The Al-hasa Oasis of eastern Saudi Arabia is very large, and I'm guessing that what's being shown is sandy water, not sand. When the hydraulic head of confined groundwater is greater than the ground surface elevation, you get flowing-artesian conditions.
Or, a spice blow.
