The dwelling site lies 11 meters over sea level today, but was at the water's edge 5,500 years ago.

Nah, couldn't be. They must be mistaken.

Actually, most of that 11 meters is due to glacial rebound.

The weight of the ice pushes down the land mass and when the ice is gone, it slowly rises (as it is still doing today). The tops of the fjords in Scandinavia were not too long ago at sea level.
