The only way such a mission would work is if we build a spacecraft with a lot of plutonium (which has been out of production for 20 years) and ion thrusters. Otherwise, we are talking centuries to reach 500 AU. For comparison, it takes New Horizons roughly 10 years to travel 30 AU, and it is always decelerating due to the Sun’s gravitational influence.
