In other words, we have NO IDEA the power of the sun and therefore it's influence on the weather cycles of it's planets. But we DO KNOW your SUV and COW FARTS are killing the earth.

The Sun has actually entered a period (cycle 24) where we're seeing more consistent numbers of sunspots occurring each month. Previous cycles, prior to cycle 24, have been pretty erratic as seen in the chart below.

I'm not sure what this means other than something different is happening on our sun.

Here's another effect of that event:

The neutron count drops as the solar magnetic ejection protects the earth from galactic cosmic rays. A lower GCR level (lower neutron count) is associated with calmer weather (and possible amplification of global warming). A higher GCR level may mean global cooling over the long run. The upshot is stormy sun means less stormy earth but a small blip of stormy sun like this one has probably little or no effect.
