The last straw on my back, I cant take it any more!!!!!!! Watching another fear mongering show on tv a while ago, and seen an on running lie that has been repeated all across tv and the net ..
big transformers No longer made in the united states . If they are destroyed ..have to be shipped in from overseas. months or years lead time!!!!
In my previous posts on other threads, on other boards, I have tried to point out that even if they were not made here anymore, they still dont need to replace them.. They can be rebuilt. I have been ignoring the manufacturing side. But enough is enough. I thought I would take the time to point out the fallacy, because it is really getting on my nerves.
Every media outlet repeats it so much, but it is so wrong that there must be a conspiracy behind it. Industry representatives cant be that stupid!!!!!! It is almost like the government wants to scare the people.
It is unnerving to have to correct major broadcasting companies, and leading US officials and scientists on a basic fact. It is like sitting there by a big white elephant that everyone is ignoring and feeling apprehension about trying to draw its presence to everyones attention.
It makes my head hurt to think that major broadcasters could actively promote such crap!
YES they DO make BIG transformers IN the United States!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In many places!!!!!!!!!
US transformer factories that make BIG substation transformers!
http://www.deltastar.com/ I dont know how their website could be more blunt about what they make. factories in VA and CA Normal product line 15KV to 230KV primary. Higher voltages on case by case basis.

Lets see That is over 12 factories that I compiled in under less than an hour of searching. There is more in that industry in the US, but I wont take the time to list them. There is countless companies in the rebuilding industry that I definitely wont take the time to list.
For those companies, I will just post a link to a youtube video that one of the small transformer rebuilding shops made. It will give you a basic idea of the system.

It is obvious that they know this too, so how do they get away with feeding that crap to the people?
I know I have posted other stuff along these lines before, but if I repeat it enough, maybe someone will hear me!!!! :flame::flame::flame::flame:[editby]edit on 17-1-2011 by Mr Tranny because: (no reason given)[/editby]
Not only that, but the largest most critical transformers have backups right at the power plant.
If you visit a major coal power plant you will see on the outside there is a transformer several stories tall sitting there without being hooked up. I know this is true for the 4 coal power plants I visited in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Maybe this is isolated but according to these plants operators, this is standard practice.
Because of the massive amount of capital tied up in the power plant, they can’t afford to be shut down due to a blown transformer.
Fear Sells. It works nearly every time.
It doesn’t matter.
When Nibiru crashes into us next year, after the polar reversal, we will be dead anyway.
Don't worry about the foreign manufacturers as they'll be too busy trying to meet their local demand. Besides, communications to countries overseas will be by mail delivered by sailboat.
I never saw, on one of these programs, make reference to foreign made transformers, so I suppose these were on ‘news shows’ and not science programs.
from what I did pick up from these programs, was the fact that if we are hit with the BIG ONE....as the planet was in the 1850s we will be in a world of hurt, not just from damage to our power transmission systems but it could fry all of our satellites, rendering us, for a time, without our beloved cell phones, satellite TV, and internet.....
what do you know of these?
I find the whole thing interesting...
This post makes Transformers 2 look coherent.
Quite the achievement.
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! oh, wait, what? That’s not going to kill us......this is??? WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!
I remember when I was a kid in the last seeing an article that talked about the sun blowing up. It was written in a breathless, urgent manner and I was really scared - until it said it would be happening for several million years. They also said the world would be depleted of all natural resources by now and that global cooling would kill us all.
I do not believe in global warming - specifically because I’m waiting for global cooling to kill us first. I think that this originates from the left, to keep people anxious and looking for someone to save them. For those of us who have been around and know the trick, we stay calm and don’t react.
That makes us dangerous because we can have a calming effect on those around us. But, they’ve taken care of that, too. It’s called Obamacare, which means WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE (geez. Can’t seem to win). ;-)
:)
You mean “power transformers”!~~~~~~ !....................You know Megan Fox isn’t with them in Transformers 3. Check: http://www.movieviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/megan_fox_transformers_motorcycle.jpg

quote.... It would likely be months or years before the electrical grid could be repaired because of the destruction of large numbers of transformers in the electric power grid that are no longer made in the United States.
http://www.empactamerica.org/faq.php
quote...These massive transformers are no longer made in the United States and must be imported from overseas
http://www.traviskelly.com/bus.html
quote....There is a pending bill in the House to provide funding for EM shielding of those transformers (which, like most everything else nowadays, are no longer made in U.S., and can’t be quickly replaced), which would solve the problem.
On and on .. They all follow the same line as the stuff that they have in the shows. That is because they are just repeating what they heard in the shows.
Sorry.. It is my first thread I have posted on free republic and it did some things to the formatting that I didnt expect. I will try to avoid such stuff in the future.
Just have fun... some folks never figure that out.
Your failure to use more allcaps and exclamation points disturbs me. How will we ever compete with the doomsayers without more exclamation point?
Oh, and don’t forget the Rapture. Currently penciled in for March 12, but could change depending on the weather.
NASA and NOAO has sections that work on fudging the data to make the story "scientific"!
As an electrical engineer in the metering industry, it appears to me that your post makes a lot of sense. We may in fact have a large amount of foreign transformers here, but a) there are spares, and b) we do have companies who can rebuild them, big and small. You don’t just throw away a big transformer just because it has a little break in one of the windings. Solar flare/CME damage will vary, but yes, we probably could repair most of the damaged transformers. It would be good work to get for a lot of these companies.
