Women are just as good as men. Therefore: when you car won't start:
1. call a tow truck 2. have your car taken to a nearby service center 3. have them repair it for you 4. call for a ride
do not take this out on your husband/significant other: they didn't design or manufacture the vehicle.
They never put it up for our convinence.
There are evil and bitter people of both sexes. The stepfather who sexually abuses his teen stepdaughter is no more representative than the bitter divorcee, who places her bitterness above the welfare of her child. It’s true people often use their children to seek revenge on the other parent, there are numerous cases of men injuring their own children to get some sick measure of revenge against their mother.
I just don’t get all that upset when my wife plays spoiled automotive idiot, a role she has trained for for decades. She was a good mother and is a good grandmother and a wonderful companion, I won’t trade her for anyone. If I had played my hand differently, she might have been a bitter divorcee, a poor companion and an indifferent grandmother. It takes two. Sometimes you need to swallow your ego and love her despite bitter words or disappointments.

Ok, seriously - God did make us different in the head.
We are not mechanically minded.
Don't think training and education are going to change this regardless of what men wish. There are so many things that women are able to manage for themselves, master (in ab sense of a man) but this really is not one for the most part.
Would we like to “master” auto mechanics and have control of this issue in our lives? Yes - but - most of our brains can't go there — and it sucks big time to know some shyster at the dealership may be taking advantage to make a buck and lying - so women unfortunately need men in this regards, whether it be fathers, brothers, guy neighbors or spouses.
Why you all resent it is the question you - you guys have to answer — I think.
That some thing women are playing “spoiled automotive idiot” is interesting — psychologically speaking - I would say men who have issues with women in this regard are - shall we say - screwed up contentious little bums perhaps with issues re women - so stay as far away from them as possible (warning to women).
The Lord said men are to love their wives like Christ loved the Church and gave His life for it - real servant attitude there required - and her desire to serve her husband, men in her life will follow. Men setting example, leading with their example.

Even my #43 does not contradict anything you are saying. My wife does play spoiled automotive idiot and it (no longer) upsets me.
Over the years we have learned each others strengths and weakness and have learned to look after one another in our own way. I think we are lucky.

Maybe it was your choice of words that caused me to go witchy - but-
It sounds patronizing, condescending to say regarding someones’s deficits and lack of skill in certain areas, regardless of sex - that she is “playing” a part as if she is faking, acting, manipulating you to get you to do something.
And since when are women, anyone for that matter - why are they behaving in a “spoiled” manner because of their dependence on someone? Don't think so.
Just think some have to check and see if who they really may have issues with is God and His design of how we are to be interdependent on one another.
Some pretty heavy accusations there, and sounds patronizing in regards to thinking men are doing women a favor filling in these mental/physical deficits that are all part of God's perfect design.
If women are so much smarter then why are they insisting on going to work and having jobs instead of running the world by batting their eyelashes (like they used to)?

The driver’s side window in my car stopped moving a few months ago...So Mr. Legs took the door apart and replaced the motor with one powerful enough to take off a finger.
I asked him to replace the car radio with one that had an AUX/IN port...So he comes home with a new stereo installed and all the speakers replaced.
To some of us cars are mysterious and finicky beings that function or not for unfathomable reasons. Fix it and do something extra for her, I bet she’ll apologize for being cranky.

Good idea but tell her the brush tastes funny so she thinks she got away with it and hope she never finds out the truth.
I know two FEMALES that can DO!
One completely took apart an old Mercedes and rebuilt it to new spec. Including the engine.
The other rebuilt a 30’ Catamaran(sail/sloop) and sailed it solo, round trip Ft. Laud. to Bahamas.
I know more than two. I honestly can’t believe what I’m reading here. I grew up helping my dad fix our cars and keep them running. I rode a dirt bike when I was 12 and could drive a stick shift by 14. I worked on my motorcycle myself. I’m also a pilot and a HAM. I worked in a university hospital ICU with the latest high tech equipment and knew it forwards and backwards. I can even program a VCR. Two of my sisters have engineering degrees, one is also a pilot and both have HAM licenses. I’m married to a pilot who is gone extensively. My ‘88 Caddy’s radiator blew up last month and AAA had a tow truck out in 15 minutes. I would hardly expect my husband to fly back from Europe to rescue me on the side of the road. No, I’m not a dyke, either, as my husband will attest that considering the amount of whipped cream last night, I was desert. What a bunch of disappointing, small minded people are here on FR stereotyping both sexes.

And why are kids insisting on making their own dinner in the evening and having the baby sitter tuck them in and read them a bed time story? Because this is the better alternative? No. Because they have no choice. They have been abandon by their mom who is working — who was probably abandoned by some selfish immature jerk of a guy who went off to find 20 again with someone younger and no sagging.
Women who have had the misfortune to pick the wrong companion are not “insisting” on working and having jobs”. They have no choice -— but everyone knows that already.
Interesting spin though to place blame on the victims of abandonment.
