Some might call it sour grapes and there are shorter articles on the subject but Herndon has been fighting the government/science/academic "partnership" for decades so he has seen the elephant. FWIW...

It is called the golden rule- Whoever has the gold rules. What thes means is that one rarely tells the one with the gold something that he does not want to hear. This is the major problem with how science is funded these days.

Some guys like a soft job, requiring little work, to reguritate what the “man” wants to heal. Lo siento mucho, pero es verdad.

Government corrupts...absolute government corrupts absolutely.

Such is the fate of science when faced with politics.

Excellent piece. Thanks for posting. I wish this was common knowledge... that we are being swindled by people pushing the idea that there are ‘smart’ people watching out for our common interests. Not in any way true. Science is like anything else, subject to power plays, politics, deceit, etc. and throwing government into it, it’s a guaranteed FUBAR.

Science is corrupt because Government funds it.
College is expensive because Government subsidizes it.
Space is expensive because Government explores it.
The JSF is expensive because Government wants it.
Government is our biggest problem.

I wish this was common knowledge...

I think the word is slowly getting out, and I doubt we even know the half of it. I know our tax dollars go to many foreign nations or agencies I presume in an effort to get all the scientists on the same page. I also know that some very sensitive research, some of it military in nature, is co-opted with foreign entities -- on our dime of course. For what purpose I haven't a clue.

A number of years ago I did an apprenticeship under a famous sculptor. I remember acutely how much he hated the national endowment for the arts and all their money, politics and perverse agenda. Controlled by the gays etc. Said it was ruining art. I know he was right.

Maybe. Might also just be the natural decay of all government institutions.

A minor quibble but I think much of the decay of our institutions can be laid at the feet of the people and the decline of the culture. We became fat, dumb and happy and the rest is history. Nothing new BTW. It has happened countless times before. Even with our vaunted Constitution, it alone was not enough to protect a people who were unwilling or too distracted to defend it. I harp on this often but I believe our worthless media in all its forms has been the primary driver of this decay. For too long, we BELIEVED these seditious bastards.

Yes, I’m quite familiar. Yuri Bezmenov’s lectures introduced me. Also the Rand Corporation, The Tavistock Institute, the Frankfort School. All these creeps. I used to read a lot about this stuff. Still very relevant, just not on my current radar. Thank you for posting... and reminding me of all the material.

I have a current client who wont go a night without Brian Williams. His wife says it’s a ritual for him. The appeal must be metaphysical because it sure isn’t content based. People are not always rational.. to say the least. Most are not much more than a collection of repeating patterns. And the patterns are not even theirs. Someone else gave them to them when they were little! ..and then they want to say they are acting ‘rationally’.

Well, I’m no shrink and never played one on stage or screen BUT, you can bet those that would be our masters know how to get into our heads, not to mention our pocket books. I think most of us get more or less pushed into comfort zones we are loathe to venture very far out of or for very long. I suspect much of human nature and the human condition is fairly simple at its core and there are those that are willing and able to manipulate many of the unwashed to greater or lesser degrees.

I see you have highlighted a piece of Edmond Burke's

"It is ordained in the eternal constitution of things, that men of intemperate minds can not be free. Their passions forge their fetters."

A piece of wisdom for sure.. and a clearer way of stating what I was trying to say.
