Friday's - "Songs that will make a grown man cry thread" (vanity)

Posted on 09/16/2011 7:47:20 AM PDT by Scythian

Okay, I'll start off, this one really gets to me, here's a classic video in HD of Dan Hill singing "Sometimes when we touch" with the classic touch of being introduced by Wolf Man Jack, but then, it's hard to tell who is the real wolf man in this video. However, this is a great song nonetheless, go ahead and cry you big burly freepers, it's okay, it's been almost three years of Obama, you can always blame it on that if somebody see's you.

We sang “America The Beautiful” at church last Sunday, and I couldn’t get through it all.

I choke up on the National Anthem at sporting events. I always have my hand on my heart, and I am appalled that so few still do that.

Jolene - Dolly Parton (something about the brutal truth of it makes me feel really sad for Dolly) HA!

Walkin’ After Midnight - Patsy Cline (with a sip of bourbon this song reminds of every woman I’ve ever kissed)

The part in Living years when he says” I wasn’t there the day my father passed but I can see him in my new babies smile” Or something to that effect reminds me of my step dad who died 5 months before my wedding. And I was not there when he died.. See starting to tear up now.. UGH!

Oh I wasn’t there that morning when my father passed away
I didn’t get to tell him all the things I had to say
I think I caught his spirit later that same year
I’m sure I heard his echo in my baby’s new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years.
This is the part that kicks my ass into a fetal position and blubbering..

The town is Rockwood. Glen Alice is a few miles from Rockwood towards Spring City. Nothing there anymore. Just a Church and a cemetery.

Ahh.. but ‘A boy’s will is the wind’s will,
And the thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts.’

Hey man...thanks for the link. I know the song, but never saw that performance. Old George is a one-of-a-kind...

Or Amazing grace on Bagpipes. As the piper turns away and walks away from the grave site, the pipes grow faint.
