Beautiful workmanship. Whoever left this in the ground must have been slaughtered - along with all his or her family. Their bones are gone ... but this remains, to be found a millennia later.

It could have been buried for temporary hiding; it could have been booty taken during some days-long skimirshing; maybe it’s grave goods; it could even have been in a dwelling which was torched, and the ashpile never got inspected for loot.
