from an e-mail I got for a writer for Human Events:
A retired U.S. army intelligence officer told me that this is unprecedented - a complete NATIONAL black-out of ALL broadcast media throughout the country during the daytime. Normally, Emergency Alert System tests are conducted by FCC licensed broadcasters in the dead of night. (Consider: Even following the Kennedy assassination, NOTHING like this was scheduled).
I worked in radio in the 70s. We did the EBS testing during the day all the time. When the buzzer sounded I would read “This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. This is only a test.” Then I’d play a 15 second beep. Then I’d explain that had this been “an actual emergency” information would have been given as to what to do.
I’ve never heard every radio station doing it at the same time. If that happens, my “conspiracy” radar will go off!
