Not to mention that the Sauds have infiltrated most Western governments and are guiding as many as possible away from developing their own independent oil industry.
It’s why thr Green party exists. It’s why Green peace exists. Odds are, it’s why the the federal Liberal party of Canada and the Democrats have made enemies of the oil patch.

The Eagle Ford shale deposits in South Texas discovered 4 years ago is now supporting 12,000 high pay jobs in the area, and is producing over 150,000 barels a day.
Meanwhile....North Dakota is pumping 500,000 barrels a day...up from 400,000 6 months ago.

I’d be in favor of Texas and Alberta seceding and joining together to form their own country.
The smartest move Canada could make is to increase it’s refining capacity. Ship oil to China and gasoline and diesel to the US.
The Chinese deal will be for the Chinese to build (and pay for) a pipeline to the Pacific and the port facilities to ship the oil in Chinese ships. It will be for more than the 700,000 barrels/day that was going to be the Keystone deal. Obama will have all of the Alberta oil locked up tight by the ChiComs. Obama is a chump as are the idiots who voted for him.
Enbridge is building the Northern Gateway . This has been in the works from , at least, 2008 . It’s not something new dreamed up to replace TransCanada’s Keystone and Harper is just doing what he would be doing , regardless of Obama’s dithering .
The US softwood lobby in Washington taught Canada a lesson. Simply , no more eggs in one basket.

I am Canadian, and most Canadians think I’m a rascist bigoted, jerk. They think that because I hate socialism, and want to deport muslims, and I used to own guns (before I lost them in a tragic volcano spelunking accident), and I can’t stand what is happening to the US, that makes most Canadians hate me, I guess it depends on your definition of nice.
I don’t blame Harper for doing what he’s doing, but it burns me that he is going to that market, to a very probable near future enemy.
