Attention space enthusiasts: an asteroid the "size of a city block" will whip past Earth tonight, Space.com's MIke Wall reports.
The asteroid was discovered earlier this week by astronomers at an Australian observatory.
Although the 1,650-foot wide space rock, which will pass within 3.35 million miles of Earth, is large enough and comes close enough to our planet to be considered a hazard, astronomers say there's nothing to worry about.
If it passes within range to be caught on camera, you'll be able to watch the live event safely from you computer screens through the Slooh Space Camera, starting at 8:00 p.m. EDT.

Guess it did miss us....

WOW!! That was close. You could almost feel the wind from that one; after all it was only 3.35 million miles away.

The link given at the top of the thread shows we still have an hour before it ‘passes’.
Wallenda is going to walk a tightwire over Niagra Falls at 8pm (CST) as well.
Oh, darn, can’t decide which to watch.

I don't check my mail every day.
Went to bed early last night to get up real early this morning to see Lou Gertsner (IBM exec that saved the company) on CNBC Squawk Box.
So thanks for the note Blam,...I might not have slept well if I had known about this asteroid.
Someday on of these rocks is gonna smack us....and it won't be pretty.
That or a volcano is gonna spew things in the air and chill the planet again.
Then out here we have the lovely threat of earthquakes.....
Damn...life is hazardous.

Dang! It looks like we’re still going to have to listen to the loonies whine about “global warming” and Barry whine about reporters who don’t sing the same tune that the rest of the “reporters” in the White House “Correspondents” Glee Club are singing.

So isn't that exciting...?

A friend of mine is in the water softener business. He told
me once that there is a large circular area in Iowa that
has naturally soft water. It seems that years ago a meteor
blew out a large crater and gradually it filled back in with
soil only. All the minerals are gone that harden ground water!
