This one is getting ready to blow up at just the right time. Few months back a report was published to the effect that all 'extinct' volcanos can become active again and again and again as magma wells up from the mantle and reheats their cores. Seems the cores are made of material that melts at a lower temperature than other parts of the crust.

Gave me the warm and fuzzies to realize that the half dozen ancient volcanic plugs around Northern Virginia could just turn to tuffa in a month or two and leave us with an even worse traffic jam than we have ever known.

If any of the old volcanoes activated along the east coast...I don’t think we would care for we would have already been dust driven...lol
