They were healthy, but hygeine was non-existent and hunting accidents could be fatal.
The infant mortality rate must have been atrocious due to infections. Combine that with death at childbirth (newborn’s craniums were getting larger making birth more difficult) and hunting accidents, no wonder people did not live long statistically.

Actually that was the AVERAGE life expectancy. Infant
mortality was really a bitch!
Once he makes it into late teens he has a pretty good chance of making it to 60 or 70 plus. Not at all different from our today’s expectancy except for the meds and stuff to make into the 80’s and 90’s.
Indians, for example, abandon their aged members when they cannot keep up with their nomadic movement. It is cruel but necessary.
