Someone will come along and say his finds are of historical or archaeological and belong in a museum.

When this happens in the UK, they have to give the finder and/or the land owner the full market value of the find. From what I've read, the finder and land owner normally split the money 50/50.

i would think there has to be a fair finders fee else nobody would ever announce they found anything and simply sell it on the black market...
