Mandela had some very serious issues with communist affiliation. He deserves to be called out on that.

Mandela was not a simple figure, and he defies a simple analysis. For his contribution to the downfall of Apartheid, he can receive some accolades.

” For his contribution to the downfall of Apartheid, he can receive some accolades.”

Blacks in South Africa were better off under White Apartheid.

So, what is left to praise, that a black communist substantially regressed progress for black South Africans?

Dat wacis!

Very few Americans understand the true reasons for apartheid. It's reasoning was similar to the situation we have in the USA now that we have reached the tipping point. More takers than payers. However we only have a small imbalance. South Africa had a 10 to 1 imbalance.

Although the system of apartheid was not ideal it allowed the educated thus productive providers to educate, feed and house many of the majority.

I lived in West Africa and traveled to S.A. often. When I first visited S.A. I was very unsettled to see the system, then I learned the reasoning behind it and saw the good side.

The opposite can be said about Zimbabwe which had no such restraints. South Africa is now following in the footsteps of that corrupt and racist State.
