"Similarly it was specifically through the Carolingian Renaissance that we derived a new improvement in writing known as Carolingian miniscule. Carolingian Miniscule helped create the concept of upper and lower case lettering, as well as the concept of spaces between words. Before the Carolingian Miniscule reading a manuscript was very difficult, for the fact that there was only one-case lettering, and there was also no spaces between words."
Thank God for the Monks.
It is worth noting that the period 632-1499 AD saw over 528 battles from Tunisia to Spain against muslim armies intent on wiping out everyone not muslim and everything not in the koran. This was the Varsity under Muhammad’s and his disciples. These armies totally destroyed classical civilization (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Persian) and most of its works, leaving only a poor remnant, and the stump of the original Christianity, while instilling fear of Islam in the minds and hearts of the European descendants which persists to this day.
