If these glaciers are in the order of magnitude as this paper asserts, then they have a high probability of harbor some form of life.

If we find some form of life in these ice formations, then we can be certain that life is abundant throughout the cosmos. Such a discovery will be the greatest achievement of mankind and will be, for myself, a great affirmation of my Christian faith.

This seems to be a widely held understanding, but speaking just for myself, I just don't see it as all that important. Makes me feel dense.

That would be kind of sad, to have the entire Universe laid out before us and the most significant thing we ever did was find some mold on the nearest planet.

If the life is similar, skeptics will say it started on Earth and was transferred. And we would have no proof either way. So not much of a discovery.

Now if a comet older than the Earth comes here from deep deep space and we find life. Then that is a story...
