Bernie Sanders’ economics destroyed by Bill Maher

I defer to no one in my contempt for Bill Maher. He is an unfunny little crapweasel. However, of late, he’s beginning to show an alarming pattern of non-reflexive-leftwing opinions that probably spell the end of his career. First, there was his opinions of Islam which got ThinkProgress within a gnat’s whisker of calling him an Islamophobe.

-----------------------------------------

The latest episode is his encounter with Bernie Sanders and their discussion on the cost of the laundry list of free stuff Sanders promised America during the debate. Maher did everything but quote Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.” Via The Daily Beast. We start with Sanders:

I heard somebody say you could have a confiscatory tax rate of 100% on all income over $1 million, and you still wouldn’t have nearly enough money to pay for all these freebies proposed by the Democrats.

So even if they could change the tax code tomorrow to confiscate all that money, they still would fall far short of having enough.

I sure hope whoever the GOP nominee is will drive this point home when we get to the general election campaign.

And drive home the point that “free” college or “free” anything provided by government still has to be paid for by someone through tax money. And that the tax money comes from all of us who pay taxes.

{”Michael Savage does a great Boinie Sandas imitation.”}

Yes, he does and he’s very entertaining and makes good points with it. I heard him recently and he did not feel
He was giving his best Boinie. He said it was because he was in a good mood. :)

Libs/socialists/communists do not understand the economic concept of “deadweight loss.”

Tax money will never cover the roughly 19 trillion of on balance sheet debt let alone the 70+ trillion of off balance debt. That is the job of the Federal Reserve printing press. They can talk about deflation, disinflation but eventually the paper and digital blizzard will have to be unleashed--- or open default.

I don't get the fascination here with socialism. We know t is a "bankrupt" political philosophy. The real enemy of freedom these days is the Republican collusion with the Democrats to bring us crony capitalism, which is the economic philosophy of fascism. And there will be no quicker path to socialism than to create it as the only alternative to crony capitalism. Look who the real advocates for open boarders - bring in underpaid skilled labor so we don't have to pay American professional salaries. It's the RINO's. It is "our team."

The enemy ain't them. It is "us." Don't like socialism. First you have to kill of its deranged bigger brother.

The critique of Sanders’s socialism applies equally well to progressive programs.

When the individual has a duty to relieve the suffering and needs of others, that is enforced by government coercion,it leads to destruction of normal character development, and deterioration, decay, and decline of a rational free society.

The only difference between Bernie’s economics and Hillary’s economics is the language they are cloaked in, Bernie is just more upfront about it.

(Good that Maher did this but he is still a disgusting worm)

I started the Dem debate in my car. I couldn’t tell who was speaking at first. I heard the Elmer Fudd guy and thought, here is an utter IDIOT with dumb wrong ideas, who is ARROGANT AS HELL about his utter lack of intelligence and knowledge. And that is Bernie Sanders. Wrong on everything but convinced he is a deity.

I thot his Bernie impersonation was fantastic, world-class.

Apparently it has generated a phenomenal buzz in Wash DC circles.

To the "gibsdmedat" crowd, if they don't have to pay for it it's free.
