Sadly, Obama will probably get a two-fer out of this. 11 months is a long time for the Republican-controlled Senate to run out the clock, so they'll probably (with pressure from the MSM) vote on a replacement that Obama nominates.

Once the balance has shifted in the SC, I fully expect RBG to finally ride off into the sunset, so Obama will be able to add another, albeit much younger, justice as well.

This is such a blatant issue that even McConnell could not get it wrong . . . tho he misstepped IMHO in going public immediately. He should simply have expressed regret over Scalia’s passing, and spoken of his lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda.

No need to go public over the obvious - that under the Republican majority, Senate scrutiny of any Obama nominee for SCOTUS will be subject to more delay than Alberto Gonzales experienced during the W Bush Administration.
