With the presidential election less than one week away, conspiracy theorists had a field day with a two-day-and-counting blackout of Fox News Channel and CNN on DirecTV, lighting up social media with claims of a liberal bias to keep supporters of Republican candidate Donald Trump in the dark.
DirecTV subscribers havent been able to watch FNC or its liberal counterpart CNN for about two days, as intermittent outages have blocked the channel. DirecTV customers tuning in the channels have been greeted with a screen stating the satellite service was experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Please stand by. We apologize of the inconvenience.
Those that tuned into CNN were notified the channel was unavailable, according to a report in the Washington Times.
Bewildered viewers voiced some of their opinions on social media and DTVUSAforum.com, with some claiming a conspiracy by liberal DirecTV employees to block FNC. No word on whether they felt more conservative DirecTV employees had a hand in blocking CNN.
In a statement, DirecTV parent AT&T said it is having technical difficulties involving eight HD channels and offered impacted customers a work-around to watch the networks.
Were experiencing technical difficulties impacting 8 HD channels, including CNN HD and FOX News HD, for our satellite customers, AT&T said in a statement. These and most of the other channels are available in SD and via our streaming apps. Customers can learn how to unhide SD channels at http://soc.att.com/2f1HYN5. We apologize for the inconvenience. Were working to address the issues and will update accordingly.
How shall I live?
About four million (give or take) people will miss them.
They’ll get over it.
The standard definition channel for CNN is still working, even though it was picking up the golf channel for a bit earlier.
Only HD channels are off. DD are still available.
Rush Limbaugh has been talking about it on his program. Personally, I believe this is either a hack or outright censorship.
MSNBC......................
People still get their news from TV? I thought we were an advanced society-—
I attributed it to AT&T taking over DirecTV and doing what they do best - screwing things up.

Don’t try a reset. Looks like it would be better not to try a reset on receiver, you then lose all channels. Looks like there is a way to unhide sd channels for a work around or something.
Freegards
Go to 359 and watch Fox Business, it’s usually better anyway. Love Varney and Dobbs!
No idea how to access them.
Fox Business is the only one worth watching.
What the heck??
Weirdest and best election ever!
Where is the Friday surprise?
Turned on tv to see what’s going on. No Fox news, but getting Fox business—MSNBc, of course!
Hack maybe - censorship extremely unlikely - anyone trying that at AT&T would get kicked out the door. They don't care all that much about politics; what they care about is something called the Net Promoter Score, and any service disruption lowers that and any lowering of it affects the annual bonuses.
