Did someone just up and change the meaning of the word icon and awesome?

Best thing THEY can do for this young lady is to let her live her life and whoever is pushing her on the front page should learn it just makes her look well.... cheap.. And anyone who even thinks they have a meaning of what ‘body language’ is, should be able to tell she doesn’t want the attention.... What they will end up doing is drive her ‘crazy’ so she will ACT the way they want.

In my 1956 BOOT CAMP I was in one of the last companies that were issued a Flat Hat - at least in San Diego one of the last. I think the only place it was authorized at the time was in NY - Boston Naval Districts.

At the time Waves were around but not a lot of them - comparatively speaking.

Anyway We got Issued Dungarees with patch pockets, and it made for a sharp uniform .. AND 13 button trousers, which I think were on the way out...

ANYHOO... as the 50s ended and went into the 60s, it was harder to find the 13 button trousers and patch pocket dungarees...I used to say I bought ‘all my clothes in Hong Kong’, those tailors could put out a mean set of ‘Sharkskin Dress Blues’ for about 10 or 15 bucks and I bought tailored patch pocket dungarees.
My set of ‘sharkskins’ had the obligatory ‘silk’ lined inner, dragons on the cuffs so when you rolled them up people ‘knew’

Wore them to a stateside inspection ONCE - I was E5 so the CO didn’t really say anything but I got enough hints from the Chiefs etc that it wouldn’t be a good idea to wear them to another inspection. <: <:
Jumper was so tight and form fitting that one needed zippers up either side.

WE took to calling the Blue Trousers and the ‘new’ Dungarees - both with SLIT pockets.

WAVE PANTS....

Guess we would have called them Moms Jeans if mothers were know to wear dungarees.....

I wish I had worn a traditional uniform. I had the stupid “Ice Cream Man” uniform in the mid-Seventies. I would have preferred the Dixie Cup.

Yes...my parents went to Hong Kong, and they had a boatload of clothes custom made there.

Haha, pushing the envelope with your uniform, but...I bet you looked great in them on liberty!

I don’t envy Obama’s daughter. I don’t think it is going to end well for her. She is going to have gobs of money, because her grifter parents got fat while in office, but I don’t think she is ever going to be happy.
