Why would you think it crazy?
It’s one of the most visually stunning lines of poetry ever written.
The mind that produced that was capable of pure pop culture banality
(of which he thankfully used only a modicum) and at the same time
(sometimes in the same song) he could indulge in the sublime.
The poem in question is worthy of a Renaissance Master.
Did you see this!
Wait: you’re referencing a master?
I thought you just made that up.
I am cowed.
PS: Which master?
"Horse Latitudes"
When the still sea conspires an armor
And her sullen and aborted
Currents breed tiny monsters
True sailing is dead
Awkward instant
And the first animal is jettisoned
Legs furiously pumping
Their stiff green gallop
And heads bob up
Poise
Delicate
Pause
Consent
In mute nostril agony
Carefully refined
And sealed over
Jim Morrison
Well hey, that’s the guy whose dad was general during the Vietnam era!
Thank you for curing me of a small portion of my ignorance.
Many thanks.
Somebody forgot to flush.
As they were thrown overboard.
Yes - from Rush’s 2112. A mix of nerdiness, free thinking and rebellion - thought it fit well with Free Republic!
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing.
Navy, actually.
Morrison’s father was Rear Admiral George Morrison, veteran of WWII
and Korea who was Commander of the US Naval Forces in the Gulf of Tonkin
when the “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” started the big escalation of the VietNam War.
LOL
Perfect
Absolutely glorious. Much thanks.
