By backing up Bannon’s narrative.

What narrative is that?

“Former Trump adviser Roger Stone said Steve Bannon committed a “stunning act of betrayal” with his criticism about President Trump and his team in a forthcoming book.

In “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” author Michael Wolff writes that the former White House chief strategist slammed Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son-in Jared Kushner and campaign chairman Paul Manafort for what he called a “treasonous” and “unpatriotic” meeting with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign.

The book also quotes Bannon making disparaging remarks about the president, his family and his team.

On “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Stone said Trump is a “political genius” and he’s the one responsible for his stunning victory in the 2016 election, not Bannon.

“The agenda is Trump, the drive to win is Trump, the populist campaign is all Donald Trump,” Stone said.

He said that Bannon’s title of “chief strategist” was a “misnomer at best,” as the Trump agenda was set long before Bannon joined the campaign.

“I don’t really understand what would motivate Steve to say these things when it’s the president who’s given him the opportunity for high public service, when it’s the president who’s given him a White House office,” Stone said.

Watch more above.”
