A professor of statistics, who is a preacher too, suggested these might be some manifestations of the “principalities and powers in the heavenlies”. He didn’t say it affirmatively, but noted that these objects are not constricted in flight. They move freely. I have long thought the whole sci-fi era has been a softening up for some kind of demonic appearing, as the message preached in sci-fi is the Universal Vague Religion and not “Jesus Christ and Him crucified”.

Not sure I should admit that, lol. Just an opinion.

I visited this air museum out by the Oregon coast, that is housed in an old blimp hangar. Pretty neat place.

They had a pair of these little prototype single man helicopters. One had an FAA experimental number on it(?)

One of those experimental helicopters, which was obviously hand built by the looks of it, was found in a blackberry patch near Portland.

I took lots of pictures of those.

They’re the true embodiment of leading edge experimental engineering.

Where are the photos? In the age of cell phones, I want to see a photo, and then decide if it is photoshopped. But no photo? That is so 1950s.

“should the airliners have been ordered to scatter?”

I thinking that telling airliners to “scatter” is about the last thing air controllers are going to do.

Sorry. But unless Einstein and his General Theory of Relativity is very wrong, no physical entity can travel faster than the speed of light. Given the unfathomable distance to the nearest star, no alien biological or physical entity could ever reach earth. That is not to say that given our Milky Way is only one of billions of galaxies in the universe, advanced alien life probably exists somewhere. Sadly we will never meet them in person. But since we have been transmitting intelligent radio signals in analog for the past 115 years and in digital for the past 40, we just might receive a return intelligent transmission, but not a physical visit, from distant aliens. Who knows, there might even be a string of civilizations connected by long range radio transmissions. But alas physical visits are not possible.

It's the Chinese sending us a message. See Introducing the DF-17: China's Newly Tested Ballistic Missile Armed With a Hypersonic Glide Vehicle

The DF-17 is the first hypersonic glide vehicle-equipped missile intended for operational deployment ever tested. China carried out the first flight-tests of a new kind of ballistic missile with a hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) in November, 2017.

Our Defense and Intelligence agencies won't admit it and are using the UFO ruse as a cover story. This is not unlike our overflights of hostile countries with the SR-71. They had no clue what was flying over them.

Just my theory.

Re: chicken little & company: Some things seem to never change...

Seems like just yesterday when that black beauty flying tests out of Lincoln County, NV was generating dozens of this type of UFO sightings.

Well, I guess this is the time to revisit:

L.A. Speed Check

I guess that's roughly 50 year old technology.

Here's a much more in depth and detailed description along with the tapes of the incident - for the curious only.

You Need To Hear These FAA Tapes From That Oregon UFO Incident That Sent F-15s Scrambling

I’d rather think of it as a UFO than as a Chinese or Russian experimental ‘raider’...

About forty years go I was working on a cadastral survey crew in the Umpqua forest in Oregon. I was up pretty high in a forested area and heard an odd roaring down in one of the forested valleys below me. I got to a spot where I could look down through the trees and saw an odd disc shaped craft hovering about 200 feet off the top of the trees. I only saw it for about thirty seconds but it seemed to have two or three vertical stabilizer fins and some kind of writing or insignia on the sides. After thinking about it as I was hiking I thought maybe a back engineered saucer left over from Roswell.
