As documented in this historical record:

“Noah?”
“Yes Lord”.
“I want you to build me an ark...”
...
“Lord, what’s a cubit?”

Bill Cosby, back when he was funny.

The cause of this prehistoric flood may be similar to the cause of the most recent one. Periodically, glaciers push down from the north pole. They push up debris and form earthen berms reinforced by ice. When the glaciers recede, the berms hold back the liquid water, forming enormous but tenuous lakes. With warming and rainfall, the ice reinforcement of the berm melts aways, cracks in the berm develop, and then the beam bursts, letting lose a torrential flood of water.

We are living in an overall ice age featuring periodic advances and retreats of glaciers. It’s called climate change. It’s been going on for millions of years, since the extinction of the dinosaurs (when the earth was much different, and in particular was uniformly warm). Warm the earth, and the dinosaurs will come back. The penguins and polar bears will go extinct because Tyrannosaurus Rex will eat them. Baby seals will be eaten by Raptors. Ptyerodactals will swoop down from the sky and eat Koala Bears and other cute animals. The secret herd of unicorns hiding in the tropical rain forest will be squished under the plodding feet of Brontosaurus.

We have to stop the warming of the planet before it’s too late. Also, we have to confiscate all firearms.

I’ve got a theory about a possible “worldwide” mega-tsunami. Just a theory but I’m hoping somebody did some related research, once upon a time.

In H.G. Wells’ story “The Man Who Could Work Miracles” the protagonist orders the Earth to stop spinning. Big mistake. Disaster of all sorts ensues, including a worldwide mega-tsunami when the oceans leap out of their beds and roar across the continents.

Could a BIG asteroid, striking the Earth at an angle, cause a lesser version of the same disaster?

Like I said, just a theory. But most cultures have a legend about a massive flood, roughly around the same time in history.

Could it be that the present isnt the key to the past? Could there have been a previous flood whose evidence was buried and obliterated by the more recent flood described in the report?

The massive drought/ climate catastrophe that preceded the desertification of most of Africa drove our ancestors to live in the areas near the sea like the caves near Capetown SA where Homo heidelbergensis became dependent on high protein sea fool which, in turn fueled their brains. When the Mediterranean reflooded they spread throughout Africa, Europe and Asia evolving into homo erectus and eventually ourselves.

At least that is one set of facts that has been supported by the fossil record and the great number of artifacts found in the far south of Africa. Amazon Prime has an interesting documentary “The Story of Us”.

"...five kilometres deep and 20 kilometres long, and created a waterfall with a 1.5 kilometre drop."

Call me a backwards 'murican, but I hate the metrification of the language.

----Flood narratives are common in Western literature---

The source of the narratives......

Marine fossils miles and miles away and hundreds of feet above any ocean
