The United States' trade deficit with China has eliminated at least 3.5 million American jobs since 2001, data reveals.

--

As President Trump is set to release a package of $50 billion worth of tariffs and restrictions on Chinese investments, the U.S. goods trade deficit with China remains at $29.3 billion.

Since 2001, free trade with China has cost millions of Americans their jobs. For example, in a report by the Economic Policy Institute, between 2001 and 2015, about 3.4 million U.S. jobs were lost due to the country's trade deficit with China.

Of the 3.4 million U.S. jobs lost in that time period, about 2.6 million were lost in the crippled manufacturing industry, making up about three-fourths of the loss of jobs from the U.S.-Chinese trade deficit.

Yeah, but most of those jobs eliminated would have been filled by people who voted for Trump, so it was okay with the liberals!

The jobs are now held by a massive country, with five times our population, an invasive communist system, which is rapidly building up a very significant military.

Labor unions, are not the largest threat anymore.

Not at all.

“How many jobs have US labor unions eliminated?”

How many jobs have been taken away by the illegals?

How many worthless ‘companies’ have been kept afloat because of taxpayer subsidies, only to eventually fail and leave US labor and bondholders twisting in the wind?

Labor unions, are not the largest threat anymore.

Largest threat to what? I thought we were talking about jobs. Labor unions are most definitely the largest threat to manufacturing jobs. Regulations are second. Taxes are third. Remember, whatever the Chinese do, they still have to ship their good across the Pacific. Remember also, every currency manipulation the Chinese engage in, they learned from us. Nobody manipulates their currency as much as we do.

You sound like a strong China hand.

I used to be.

They are becoming a big threat now.

Wake up.

We need to bring back our hand tool production jobs. It would be nice to buy a drill for wood that doesn’t bend or snap, and screws that don’t strip their heads when screwed into a piece of wood, along with the nails that bend when hit with a hammer. Oh, the hammer with the indents on the face from hitting American nails. The best place to buy good tools is at yard sales, where you can still find some marked “Made in America”.

I agree with you on that one.

Yes.

What I am saying is, we are threatened by shipping all our jobs to China.

That is not good. At all. That must be reversed.

I think you are going to see the US economy roaring now for years. Meanwhile, here in Canada, we are ruled by the Chinese front party, the Liberal Party of Canada.
