Was the Trump Nomination of Kavanaugh A Call To the Bullpen Move?
me

Posted on 07/10/2018 7:09:20 AM PDT by klimeckg

I read in another post with the same idea but can’t seem to find it. The thought process was that Trumps nomination of Kavanaugh was a chess move.

I liken it to a baseball manager making a call to the bullpen to get the other teams manager to also make a move with a batter.

So, is Kavanaugh a decoy? Trumps knows what will happen with the Senate and will let it play out and then nominate who he really wants?

Just wondering what other Freepes think.

I trust his thinking. He is a powerful strategist. Sun Tzu and the Holy Bible are his bedtime reading.

Kennedy wasn’t RWR’s first choice. But I think DJT does want Kavanaugh on the bench and (my dream!) will nominate Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

What makes you think he didn’t really want Kavanaugh to begin with?

Oh, Kavanaugh is laced with Bush DC GOPe Karl Rove history and he also Favored some Obamacare stuff. But we need to go by their opinions that they write and Kavanaugh has good constitutional opinions for the law. So that’s why I thought Trump didn’t care for him. Oh yea, plus McCain liked him and this is a sign not to choose anything McCain backs.

She wanted to be replaced by the FemNazi Clinton, or at least have her put one on the bench to replace her. Love it how that did not work out for both of them. You got to know when to hold em and when to fold them I guess. Betting on the come in her case did not work for her but great news to the USA.

My own personal observation -- and this is admittedly in a professional circle from a limited geographic area -- is that hardly any of the lawyers I know are Protestants. I'd say 75% of them are Jewish, or of Irish or Italian extraction.

For whatever that's worth ...

Agreed. They can’t stop whoever Trump nominates... so short of some damning evidence no one ever has seen on this guy he’s in.

Yes you will have the stupid hearings like Franken last time trying to make arguments that hold no water... but not only will the nominee win, he will get some D support as well at the end of the day.

Trump has no reason to play games, he owns the field

I don't think so. I think Kavanaugh is a compromise pick and that he already has the necessary senate votes to get in. The Democrats will put up the obligatory fight in the hearings but the deal is done.

The NYT opinion piece was the signal for me. They are telling the Left that this is as good as it gets. The alternative for the Left is to lose additional senate seats in November which will enable Trump to choose and seat whoever he wants.

I think it was the guy he wanted. Kavanaugh was thoroughly vetted for the The District of Criminals appeals court, so it should go smoothly.

Shhhhh..... don’t you dare try and inject logic and truth to stop the insane hand-ringing that is going on ‘conservative’ blogs this morning....lol

If we do this just right we will be able to snatch defeat right out of the hands of VICTORY.....

...amazing.

The fact that McCain supports this pick troubles me the most.

If McCain's for it, I'm agin' it.

I think Trump picked who he wanted, and he has proven to have good judgement.

Well reasoned. Had I been offered a judgeship during Bush’s tenure I’d have gladly served. Why are people hung up on this?

I don’t think Kavanaugh was a decoy. I think PDJT picked who he wanted to get through.
