I couldn’t tell if Atwood was either:
A: translating fundamentalist Islamic oppression into something Christian audiences would get, a la Iranian revolution
B. actually fear Jerry Falwell and others actually wanting to institute something like this, mirroring the insulting smear that tyranny in America comes wrapped in the flag and carrying a Bible

This book came out in 1985, long before the whole Muslim/Isis/INVASION OF EUROPE & AMERICA.

She has written a couple of sort of funny books, however, she is pretty much an anti-male, lefty feminist.
