Not a Roseanne fan but I didnt know ValJar was black either. I thought she was Iranian.
She’s very strange looking, with a waxy complexion. I always thought Valerie Jarrett looked like something out of Madame Tussauds.
She’s one them hybrids they talk about on Coast to Coast.
So did everybody. But so what? She made a joke that offended some. That’s what comedians do. People need to grow up.
Agree.
I didnt know Jarrett was black, either. I thought she was Iranian, and while it turns out that she was brought up in Iran, apparently her father was an American of European descent and her mother was part African American. Youd never know it by looking at her, however, so even while I dont like Roseanne, I dont think she meant to make a racist comment.
She was referring, I think, to Jarretts weird Planet of the Apes hairstyle.
Not a fan, having never watched the Barr show, but I didn’t know she was black either. I couldn’t care any less about her in any sphere of her life.
I didn’t know she was black either.
But then, I didn’t know The Rock was black, either. I guess in the end, it doesn’t make any difference to people out for a scalp anyway.
I thought she was white
There was an article posted here on FR within the last week that gave her 23 & Me or similar gene test results as 54% white, 41% black, and 5% Native American (or thereabouts).
She does look something like Helena Bonham Carter playing Ari the chimpanzee in the Planet of the Apes remake. Helena Bonham Carter is white, of course. It’s the narrow nose, the delicate features, and the rather mask-like appearance.
VJ would be quite attractive without the mask-look.
Not a Roseanne fan but I didnt know ValJar was black either. I thought she was Iranian.
I thought shes a lizard person.
Let’s jsut say that Jarrett could pass.
Jarret is neither black nor white... nor mammal. She’s a reptile from The Land Before Time.
Funny how the first thing liberals ALWAYS think of when chimpanzees and apes are code for “black people.” Makes one wonder who is really stereotyping.
Like when they had some college student who was trying to get some sleep thrown out of school because he called some rowdy partiers outside his window “water buffaloes.” He was accused of racism because the partiers and the school confused water buffaloes which are Asian for wildebeasts or gnus which are African. He wasn’t the one who stereotyped, they stereotyped themselves.
