I just thought priests had more Fear of the Lord than the rest of us.

Are you Catholic? If you are then you would know that the priests (some of them) might actually consider themselves almost equal to God. They think they can sin all week, confess on Saturday, do Mass on Sunday, and then start it all over again.

I've read that almost all the Chilean bishops have been put on notice for possible defrocking...that means their priestly powers are revoked, they are done with the Church. Couldn't happen to a slimier bunch.

I haven't yet looked thru the whole Penn. report, but I do plan on looking for priests I've known. I knew quite a few, I went to about 8 Catholic school before high school.

I do know of one priest who was horrible, he only had one victim, but he raped our whole parish. He married his victim (she was of age) and they ran away...to live happily ever after. Justly, his "ever after" only lasted about a year, God sent him justice as a heart attack. No joy. Just fair.

The Pope has accepted the resignation of five Chilean bishops and is considering others. The Pennsylvania report is soul crushing and you’ll find evil actions within the report. That said, some of the crimes date back to the 40s. It was meant to be an all inclusive

I grew up in a parish where our pastor was a pedophile. Just recently I learned of a victim very close to me. My faith is not shaken, but the foundations of the Catholic Church are deeply flawed and have terribly damaged my thoughts about her. At the same time, a Holy Cross priest friend from Notre Dame is dying. He has been a wonderful mentor and confessor for me. I thank God for placing him in my path. He’s extraordinarily bright and one of the good guys. This recent PA news has made him sad and it hurts to see him struggle with what went out outside his historical academic focus.

I’m sad for him and for those who have suffered mightily at the hands of pedophiles in the church. I pray to God that he finds the right leader to move the church into making the right decisions. The men who perpetrated evil on young people need to pay for their crimes in jail. Sure, the Pope can offer them forgiveness, but they need to pay the price to society. These are troubling times.

Yes, I’m Catholic and I’ve known both good and bad priests. I just thought the proportions were different.

I can’t wait until all the nuts ordained in the 60s and 70s are gone.
