Just before he recently departed ABC Studios to embark on a rich overall deal at Netflix, Black-ish creator Kenya Barris sold one last high-profile project to ABC: Bewitched, a single camera, interracial blended family comedy based on the popular 1960s sitcom of the same name. It took a little while for all the deals to close, but the network has given a pilot production commitment to the new take on the classic supernatural sitcom, from Barris and Black-ish writer/producer Yamara Taylor. The project hails from ABC Studios; Sony Pictures TV, which has the rights to the title; and Sony-based Davis Entertainment (The Blacklist).

No, reverse your cast.

Far more entertaining.

Meh...the Gunslinger wasn’t black, and now we’re on the verge of a black 007, not because the story specifically called for it, but because political correctness, which (among other things) is going to destroy and chance of quality film making. Way to go, holleyweird.

Didn’t Farrell already play Darren in the movie remake?

But yeah, if it’s interracial I am sure the witch will be a strong, intelligent black woman, and the husband will be a slobbish white dunce. It’s all about the “optics”.

Do they honestly think they’ll attract former viewers? They’re on a nostalgia trip, which would be fine, except these remakes are always full of modern mores, that ruin the original concepts. They ran out of decent ideas of their own, a long time ago.
On the other hand, millennials and younger don’t usually know any better, and THEY’RE the target audience, not us old people -— they couldn’t care less about what WE want.

Re-booting? They’re revising the history

I was also blown away by posey parker killing it as a very deceptively evil dr. smith. I hated her character so much I almost stopped watching. couldn't stand the way the rest of the cast was so blind to her and what she was doing.

These SJWs in Hollyweird sure are original, aren’t they?

If it weren’t for stolen ideas, they’d have NO ideas, at all....well, except for the cr@p shows they’ve also come up with.

Uncle Arthur always was. They let Paul Lynde play the part as himself.

This reboot will mix in some of “dat old Black Magic.”

God, I’m so tired of all this political correctness.

It would have been a waste of Paul Lynde’s time for him to come out of the closet.

Lots of possibility with a black Endora . . . or the crazy black Uncle Arthur. I could write those scripts. It is actually a pretty funny character set up, although they probably won’t have the guts to fully exploit the character potential.

I posted similar in a related thread.

These reboots seemingly are to attract the older viewers. Those viewers are well outside of the demographic advertisers prefer — 18 to 49.

==

It does seem that only about 1 out of every 3 or 4 reboots manages to get beyond a second season.

I am well into the older demographic. I didn’t watch many of the shows being rebooted during their original runs and have no desire to watch the retooled versions.

From the comments below the article;

I don’t understand why Hollywood has to muddle with our childhood memories can’t they come up with anything original?

NO.
