FULL TITLE: John McCain dies at 81: War hero, father and presidential candidate had been fighting aggressive brain cancer since last summer - and leaves behind a proud legacy of public service
Senator John McCain has died aged 81 after a battle with brain cancer.
On Friday his family announced the veteran senator was to discontinue treatment for cancer and his office announced he passed away surrounded by his wife Cindy, and family, at home at 4:28pm on Saturday.
A statement released by his office said: 'Senator John Sidney McCain III died at 4:28pm on August 25, 2018. With the senator when he passed were his wife Cindy and their family.
'At his death, he had served the United States of America faithfully for 60 years.'
A hearse was seen leaving the McCain family home shortly after 7pm local time.
His daughter, Meghan McCain, led the tributes.
She said: 'My father is gone, and I miss him as only an adoring daughter can. But in this loss, and in this sorrow, I take comfort in this: John McCain, hero of the republic and to his little girl, wakes today to something more glorious than anything on this earth. Today the warrior enters his true and eternal life, greeted by those who have gone before him, rising to meet the Author of All Things.
'The dream is ended: this is the morning.'

My astrocytoma was removed in January 2017. So thank God that I’ve got on of those lazy brain tumors.

Hero of the Republic my ass. He was a disgrace of a human being. My Granny who would be 125 had she lived always said if you can’t say anything nice come sit by me. This man covered up the fact that we still had POW’s left in Vietnam and that is just one of his many disgraces. I have dropped turds on all of his threads if anyone should be interested. I simply cannot take this worshipful coverage. I shall continue to be a thorn in his mourning until my posts are removed. He is the last person who should be shown respect.
