As a Catholic we are taught that Peter was the first Pope of the Church; when Christ had to select someone to lead the Church after His departure, he picked the flawed individual who cut off a man’s ear defending Him in the garden. John “the beloved” has his reward as the caretaker of Mary, and was the only Apostle to die a natural death. Peter led the Church, even insisting he not be crucified in the same manner as Christ as he was unworthy. Also, Christ Himself didn’t mind whooping some asses when the temple was defiled - even used a belt!
