CreutzfeldtJakob is Mad Cow disease. Another reminder of how outrageously complex those biomolecules called proteins are, and how important their shape and structure are... All of them made from only 20 or so amino acids. Just mind-boggling, the complexity of life.

Mad Cow Disease.
No, it isn’t caused by a picture of Hillary Clinton

If it’s so rare how come I’ve heard a dozen people talking about relatives with it while waiting in lines?

And don’t eat this guy’s brain either

I sometimes hate to admit I’m related to them, but many good ol’ East Texas rednecks like a local delicacy called “Squirrel Mulligan.” It’s basically a stew made with squirrel meat. The problem is, many die hard rednecks down here will throw whole squirrels into the pot - head and all.
I should be thankful that I never cared much for the dish myself.

Maybe this is the same issue that tribal cannibals have - the ones that have traditions for eating brains of their dead as a way of mourning for the recently deceased.

I agree... all squirrels should now come with a warning tag. Preferably several.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes. But I highly doubt it is the first time the disease was contracted in the US. Maybe the first know US case from squirrel meat

Heads first to go before “pants-ing”. Tough getting fur specs out, clean headshot best plan. Can those critters, bugs be cooked out?

Its basically a stew made with squirrel meat.

You wont get creutzfeldt-jakob or Mad cow (I thought these were different btw) if you thoroughly cook your ‘food’.
You wont get parasites and you wont get bacterial infections either.
Maybe you’re a back bush redneck if you don’t cook your food, I don’t know, but I doubt it.
