I don’t understand why Khashoggi went to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in the first place. What was he thinking? He might as well have stuck his head in the open jaws of an alligator.

President Trump and the US should act in the way that is best for US national interests going forward. We don’t have to love everything about countries and their leaders who are strategic “allies”. As ugly as it is, it’s not smart to shoot ourselves in the foot over incidents like this.
