There are assholes out there who think the way to get rid of extra pets is to dump them on the road. I hope they all get boils.
As an adult, I like cats and accept their eccentricities. A good cat who trusts me and decides to make me an honorary member of his species is an appreciated gift. Even today, though, I am considered not quite right by some people who dislike cats. I am frequently part of conversations where people slobber about dogs to the point of imbecility, yet when I mention cats they go full-blown Margaret Sanger on felines.
People are weird.
I’ve not had the opportunity to do that for a kitty or puppy, but did do it for a couple of young rat snakes a few years ago. I’d had some landscaping done on my property and they laid a nylon net down to help keep grass seeds in place. A couple of baby rat snakes got caught in the net and I cut them out, freeing them. I’ve always been proud of myself for that act of humanity.
Gangs in apartment complexes liked to butch up by brutalizing animals, cats included. Same with suburban punks even if there wasn’t any gang around.
Glad times are changing on that!
Over the years we’ve had several batches of feral kittens. We live in coyote infested woods, and most simply do not survive. In efforts to save them, we feed and give them a warm shelter in the winter, which might save 1 in 10, only to be eaten the next year.
But now we have something totally new. The last batch of 4 are all automobile deaths. They get up on to our pickup, when we are going down the road they jump off. We notice their bodies on the trip home. We’ve popped the hood to look for them to no avail. So they apparently hide somewhere concealed. All four died, one at a time over the course of 2 months. Never before have we had such suicidal cats.
Getting on a vehicle is nothing new, past batches of cats flee as soon as the engine starts. Not this last batch.
Ahhh, cute.
All our dogs throughout the years have been dumped. I found our big slobber bucket on the road and would have been hit if I hadn’t saved him. He’s not the only one I’ve got out of the streets and into the car. People can be so evil.
Oh how sweet god bless this man.
Stories like this anger me and fill me with hope for humanity at the same time.
I grew up with a kid that was particularly mean. For snow ball fights he’d put a rock inside. As kids the 3 Stooges was popular, and I believe Larry took two fingers to poke one of the other two in the eyes. It happened so fast you did not notice his fingers actually struck the eye brows instead of the eyes, being harmless. Well this guy went for the eyes when he mimicked them.
Anyway, I watched him climb down from a water tower, that was probably 90 feet in the air. I asked him why he was up there. He threw a cat off just see if it landed on it’s feet. He laughed. Of course the cat was dead. There are some very cruel people out there.
STICKY! LOL
Last year a man was killed when the driver in front of him stopped on a busy road to let ducks pass. He was rear-ended by a driver in a pickup truck who didn't slow down.
Fatal crash happened after car stopped for ducks
A motorcyclist and his passenger daughter were killed when they hit a car that had also stopped to let ducks cross the road.
Driver who stopped for ducks gets jail, 10-year driving ban
The other day here in Florida I witnessed several drivers swerving to avoid a large turtle in the middle of the road, probably mostly out of concern with damaging their own vehicles over not killing the turtle.
Yeah, and thank God most of the violence is directed at computer code now. People have no idea what a large percentage of little boys used to do.
Wonderful story. I must be getting some seasonal allergies, the computer monitor started to look misted over while I was reading this story. So glad this man took the trouble to rescue this precious little kitten. I believe it was a test placed before him, and he passed with flying colors.
What a nice gentleman! Beautiful kitten, too!
We’d be having a me kitty cat at our house.
new kitty cat
*ping*
Similar coloring to one of ours.
Someone glued her to the street, deliberately? That person should die before he graduates to trying to murder people.
Sounds like a super affectionate cat.
