I trust the Jerry character strikes you in the
same way. We’re still looking for a fat walker except
back in season 2 (?) when Glenn was lowered into a
well by rope on Herchell’s farm to snag a walker.
That walker had quite a spare tire which didn’t save
him from having his torso split from his lower half.
Trust the plan, Man!
Re: “Carol is my favorite.”
I don’t watch the show very often.
Is Carol hanging out now with the guy who has the tiger?
I watched about 5 minutes of "Talking Dead". Question was asked: "How does a deaf person survive a zombie apocalypse?".
My answer? "They Wouldn't, but it's not politically correct to notice such things."
But, I suppose that it's no more likely than to have a third of the survivors be gay, or all of the characters be a Hollywood-imagined diverse section of society, and so on.
I enjoyed TWD for the first few years, now not so much. I wish Mrs WBill would stop watching the show, it's like a trainwreck I can't look away from.
Carol Hanging out with the tiger guy? I would say that is a big yes. Last show Carol accepted his proposal. This show, after jumping ahead many years, she is wearing his ring and they are waking up in bed together. She has long hair too! I believe they are now married. But I did miss some of the dialogue.
I would also say your observation of the ratio of gay characters to straight characters is spot on. Of course, they way the schools, government, and places of business are pushing it on everyone it is the fashionable and strategic thing to be for special privileges and perks. So who knows.
Something else I noticed is the leadership roles of homesteads have been taken over by only women. Maggie and Michonne are the head honchos now. I like them. Just wondering why it looks like they removed all strong straight Male roles. Toxic masculinity? Laf....sort of. Even Daryl is 'on the side' and not a leader at all. Not to mention we have questioned his sexuality a bit since the first few seasons. All the opportunities and not one romantic interlude all this time.
But would it really happen that way? Unlikely.
Awhile back, I commented to my lovely wife that "TWD" could easily be done from Negan's point of view, with him as the good guy and Rick as the bad guy. That would be a far more likely scenario, with a lot less of Negan posturing, and Rick along with anyone else showing a hint of backbone, meeting a quick end.
Negan is a psychotic murderer who likes to see suffering. Suppose it could have been the zombies and the other nutcases that drove him to it. But chances are he had it with him all along.
There have been some great women leaders and some great women bosses. Given the fact most women let emotions lead them more than anything. And emotions are very subjective is not a good basis. I am a woman myself - a woman from BIRTH. And just stating I do find it odd that ALL the leaders of the WD are ALL women now. Very PC.
Or is he a forceful leader, who has a strong moral code (albeit his own) and who vigorously defends his people - groups of whom Rick Grimes and company wantonly killed, and in some cases, plotted to kill?
Depends on who's telling the story. :-)
And you're right, the only guy in the show who *isn't* PC is Negan. The Bad Guy. I ROFL'd when he pointed out how poor an idea it was to "Put the Fat Girl in Charge of the Food". Particularly when everyone else was starving.
I suppose that there really aren't any particularly good guys in the show. Just Bad and Worse, and the point of view we're shown allows us to choose.
I don’t cut Negan any slack. He isn’t just defending his people in any sense. His people fear him for good reason. His people live in constant fear of him. Fairness and humanity is beyond him. No, I don’t believe he has any real leadership qualities at all. He was only in power due to surrounding himself with other sadistic freaks and those willing to submit to them.
I saw that during the few minutes I watched on Sunday. I wasn't sure that was her, though, because I had the volume turned low.
Personal opinion - she should have stuck with the short hair.
Anyway, it looks like the Virginia Community has finally run out of gasoline and bullets.
Carol was driving a horse drawn wagon and defending herself with a home made bow and arrow.
And, of course, the plot line continues to advance along the same theme - namely, that sudden inexplicable acts of personal insanity by the good guys create a new crisis each week...
Although the “New World” is bubbling over with psychopaths like Negan, Carol's teenage male companion on the wagon apparently heard someone crying out for help, and, armed with a BIG stick, races into a blind alley, followed closely by the now aged Carol, who is armed with a quiver of ARROWS, where, of course, they are promptly taken captive by a new group of evil psychopaths.
I went back to work after watching that one scene.
Several months ago, on the Fear the Walking Dead thread, I read a great plot suggestion I think would draw great ratings for many years into the future.
Instead of having the two shows run in a standard forward chronology, cut off each show after just one or two seasons, then start over - BEFORE the apocalypse - with brand new shows, in new locations, with new problems, and new actors.
I think you could bring decades of intriguing and fresh new ideas to shows like that.
Instead, we have been stuck with a decade of ragged “survivors” trying - and failing - to build a new world.
The “survivors” and “failed builders” theme has completely worn out its welcome with me!
How realistic!
We need to be friends with our kids instead of being parents, donchaknow.
Re: “Great, now that ‘Coral’ is gone”
Is “Coral” a reference to the now dead “Carl?”
I’ve seen “Coral” used several times in this thread.
What explains the “Coral” spelling or pronunciation?
And it's still kind of mocked on these TWD threads.
Really, A SIX year old! They at letting her roam around by herself and also make demands on ADULTS. Also very odd, I haven’t heard a peep from the anti-gun crowd of her carrying and sleeping with a gun.
It is sometimes like that trainwreck you can’t turn away from. I have for several shows at a time before. Especially in Alexandra where Rick had a thing for a married woman and all the gay relationships popping up while Daryl kept dissing Carol. Just didn’t hold my interest for that time. There for a while I lost interest. Then when they Killed off Abraham and Glen like that I got ticked off at them. THEN show after show they could have killed Negan and didn’t. ERRRRRGGGGG......Like a battered woman I guess. Still kept coming back for some reason.
Re: “Coral”
Thanks. Now I get it.
Possibly an artifact of Rick’s English accent, which he has in real life.
Yes, but Shiva died to save Ezekiel.
:(
I always wondered where they got 20 pounds of meat each day to feed a 400 pound tiger.
Daryl is not PC.
Rather than negotiating everything to death like Rick did, he just puts a bullet or a bolt through their head.
Maggie [and everyone else] rightfully wanted Negan dead but Rick went for the Saddiq/Muzzy “My mercy is greater than my wrath” PC crap Coral put into his head and look at where he and Coral are, now.
In the comics, Coral is a stone cold killer kid and Rick is not much kinder.
The “Daryl is gay” stuff is annoying.
Everyone misses his particular mythos on the show.
The angel wings should be a dead giveaway.
No matter what’s going on, he just “magically appears from nowhere” and saves whomever’s ass needs it.
His dog-like loyalty to Rick & The Gang should be the second clue.
Then there’s the childhood abuse issue that makes him distant and closed.
Everyone else on the show is male/female/hetero/homosexual but Daryl remains as Other.
That’s why Daryl will be the last man standing.
