Last I heard he had colluded to get some guy to bring a case to SCOTUS to get Whitaker disqualified from acting Ag. Presumably that would mean that Rosenstein would be reinstated to his former job. Deepstate is afraid that Whitaker might bridle Heir Mueller is the motive.
The DAG actually runs the DOJ day to day, and is the principal DOJ representative to the White House for all kinds of meetings such as National Security Council. The DAG’s role is described in the DOJ Operations Manual.
