Copying from the old thread, I am hoping people have thoughts about this. Curious timing, will Huber still be talking to Congress, etc?
What do you think about this? Is it closing just the Executive branch, or all Fed Gov? And is this SOP for a deceased president? I hope others have thoughts because I have no clue.
From my reading of POTUS Executive Order today, just Executive branch offices and agencies are closed, not the whole shebang. My comment about it had a link to the EO, I could neither copy the image nor was there a link to it, but I can find a link.
Aha, here is the EO - ACK!!! It is not the order closing the Executive branch, its just about flag half mast, what a great guy HWB was, etcetc.

Executive order closes Government on December 5, 2018
Washington, DC (WCMH) - President Trump has issued a proclamation for the closing of executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government on December 5, 2018, in honor of George H.W. Bush.
The proclamation reads:
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. All executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed on December 5, 2018, as a mark of respect for George Herbert Walker Bush, the forty-first President of the United States.
Sec. 2. The heads of executive departments and agencies may determine that certain offices and installations of their organizations, or parts thereof, must remain open and that certain employees must report for duty on December 5, 2018, for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need.
Sec. 3. December 5, 2018, shall be considered as falling within the scope of Executive Order 11582 of February 11, 1971, and of 5 U.S.C. 5546 and 6103(b) and other similar statutes insofar as they relate to the pay and leave of employees of the United States.
Sec. 4. The Director of the Office of Personnel Management shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement this order.
Sec. 5. General Provisions. (a) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.
(b) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:
(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.
(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.
DONALD J. TRUMP
THE WHITE HOUSE,
December 1, 2018.
FWIW, I found (and lost) search results that said when Reagan died (June 5), George Bush (traveling in the UK) declared the following day (JUne 6) a national day of mourning during which time federal buildings would be closed. Other posts indicated that is standard for the death of a pres (national day of mourning/fed buildings closed).
So executive branch closed...Legislative and Judicial still open, so Huber on.
I believe the hearings will be held on schedule unless members of said committee(s) will be in attendance at the ceremony(s) for GHWB. The derps may just pull that, delaying the hearings but not for long.

Well, if I want to dream big, this would be my scenario for POTUS closing down DC for the funeral:
GHWB was given a day to choose his way out, but POTUS told the family the day they could announce it and the day they had to have the funeral. D5
We get our emergency phone call and drops to prepare and stockpile.
On the day of the funeral, many muckety-mucks are not in DC, but at their homes, because DC is shut down. There is a knock on each door and they are all escorted away in handcuffs. The rest of the derps still in DC dont even know it happened. A few of them are arrested also, but very quietly. There is a bit of upheaval in DC but nothing like what would have happened if all the derps had been there. All the media are at the funeral, so they miss most of the excitement.
A quiet, orderly cleansing of DC.
