McCarthy was suppose to be tapped for Speaker, considered for the red nosed reindeer, whatshisname, (the drinker) but following McCarthy’s crap gaffe, occurring right during Trey Gowdy’s questioning of HRC in the Benghazi hearing, McCarthy blabs in a press interview of (paraphrasing) how “We’re going to get Hillary, for Benghazi”.
Gowdy was left FUMING.
McCarthy had “stupit” written in flares all over him, proven dumb as a box of rocks and derailed the Gowdy motivations for the investigation as “fair and impartial” and treating HRC the same as any other witness. (A Clean Up Mess for Republicans.)
He set Gowdy up for embarrassment, and McCarthy’s spew instantly played right into the hands of the Democrats, who set out to *more justifiably* charge “Witch Hunt!” against the Benghazi investigation and Gowdy, personally.
Needless to say, McCarthy was dumped as Speaker material immediately thereafter, and then comes “Young Gun #Three”, Paul Ryan.
Recall that ERIC CANTOR, PAUL RYAN, KEVIN MCCARTHY were on the cover of TIME MAGAZINE, or some hi-profile magazine, and under the Title, “THE YOUNG GUNS”. There they were spread a full page, glossy four-color cover, with their arms folded across their suited chests together standing on a Capitol veranda overlooking ALL of Washington, DC. Yuk.
Those three were slimmed down when Shockingly DAVE BRATT knocks OUT the #1 Gun, Cantor, leaving Ryan and McCarthy in line for Speaker.
Those Three were/are all together owned by the same donors of Globalism, Koch types, Chamber of Commerce, K Street, etc., at the time. Cantor was #1 Pick, and got tossed out in Virginia, #2 Ryan, played reluctant, and #3 McCarthy, nicely blew himself up.
One of those Three were always going to be Speaker. Establishment at that time was in charge.
McCarthy has blown with the wind shifts of power, but reveals who he is all the blessed time. “Let no conservative be defended” is surely his motto.
Meadows and Jordan, if it can be avoided, keep virtually no serious proximity to Dumbo!

The head of the OMB, Mick Mulvaney, currently does not have a lot of spare time, serving as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and as interim White House Chief of Staff (a 24/7 job in its own right). But if he is on board (and why wouldn’t he be?), he could well designate a team to prepare quick plans for downsizing, now that the various agencies have seen how little they need so many of the furloughed bureaucrats. That would make the furloughs qualify for RIFs.

IIRC, this plan already exists, and Mulvaney helped with it. Total overhaul and merger of Departments plans to reduce costs and increase efficiency was completed in 2017, and part of the budget proposal for full year budget.
Budgets run from fall to fall ending in Sept. or Oct.-can’t recall exactly. I don’t have the links, but I did post them to the thread early on. There’s a flow chart, and dept. charts, IIRC.
Yes I heard Rush and it was good radio. Rush did one of his "don't tell anyone" routines with the caller and as stated above, he tied the "don't tell" secret to his main theme of the day: Trump just needs to "hold steady" for a few more days.

POTUS: Border Security to protect all Citizens and Legal residents.
The commons doesn’t want to get rid of May, but doesn’t support her Brexit deal. She didn’t support Brexit, and her deal was trying to sabotage it. A lot of her party feel the same way. Britain is a lot like the US in that the voters and the representatives are at odds.
Seems to me the only way out is for May to give up on sabotaging Brexit, and assign someone who is for it to negotiate the deal. If she won’t do that, like Ryan refused to give Trump his wall, then the government will limp along a little while until it falls. Just like the House fell. Or, maybe there will just be a hard Brexit, which would be like Trump declaring a national emergency and building his wall.
