Does the President get a say in to which person is the designated survivor? If I were him I would make it Pompeo!

That’s a good question. I have never seen anything about how it is determined. For sure needs someone with a back bone and dedication to constitution.

The president and his staff choose the designated survivor. They can choose anyone in the line of succession — assuming that person is eligible to be president, meaning they must be at least 35 years old and a natural-born U.S. citizen
