The drama has received a 10-episode order at the SVOD platform, where it will join 'The Twilight Zone' and 'Star Trek,' among others.

Stephen King's post-apocalyptic epic best-seller The Stand is coming to CBS All Access.

Following a prolonged dealmaking process, the SVOD platform on Wednesday announced a straight-to-series, 10-episode order for a drama based on the novel of the same name. Josh Boone, who was previously attached to write a feature film based on the epic novel, is set to pen the script alongside Ben Cavell (Justified, Homeland). The Stand has long been a passion project for Boone.

Already done, excellent version. Another reinvent the wheel series.

This is the second time The Stand will be adapted for television after ABC produced it as an eight-hour miniseries in 1994 with Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald and Rob Lowe starring. King wrote the teleplay and had a minor role in that series.

I remember watching it back then. I don’t remember it being all that good.

I’m glad someone else is writing the screen play.

In my opinion The Stand is the best thing King wrote. I stopped reading his stuff after ‘It’. He just got too pornographic.

Seems to me just about every Stephen King movie has an anti-Christian sub plot. Always some whacky unlikable Christian.

Stephen King is a total whack-job but I do like "The Stand."

I re-read it a few summers ago after reading it twice during my youth.

The story holds up well over time. But rarely do movies or TV shows do the book justice.

“IT” was the last one i read.
I convinced myself that he was having other people writing his books.

The Stand was one (if only?) that I felt had a good Christian plot to it. It was one of the reasons I liked it so much.

Not Sleepwalkers. I enjoyed it as a kind of Tales from the Crypt story.

Agreed. However, I was always partial to the original IT (and still am) but did enjoy some of the scenes in the remake that had never made it into the original. So I’m hoping for the same luck in this remake of The Stand.

They’ll have to cut Mother Abigail’s Christian stuff out. It might offend the snowflakes.

We can make wager on how “woke” they can make this new version. Any bets on which character(s) will be same sex oriented?

I’d rather see a director produce “Camp of the Saints” in a 10 part series. It’s more relevant than a fictional King story, and would take big kahunas to make and fight off the sissy boys who would object. The Director would need to hire thousands of MAGA-hat patriots to kick leftist ass at the premier.

I liked Larry Underwood’s passage through the Lincoln Tunnel, and certain aspects of Nadine Cross, who I didn’t visualize as nearly as pretty as Laura San Giacomo.

I hope they do the “hand of god” a little more realistically at the end. It was so cheap and fake looking in the first film that people busted out laughing.
