The "excited" quote is dumb, but technology and advancement is a good thing for us all. We have put many blacksmiths and farriers and buggy drivers out of business over the years, and we are all thankful for cars replacing horses.
Cashiers being displaced by kiosks is also a good thing in the long run. Factory workers being mostly replaced by automated robots has also been a good thing, and has kept auto prices down.
