I vaguely recall this event and thought it puzzling at the time. It also convinced me that Barry was a died in the wool commie out to scuttle the Constitution.

Skolnick, 2005

Just prior to Katrina hitting the Gulf, Putin noted that
two U.S. senators were in Russia snooping around off-limits secret facilities.
One was Sen. Barack Obama (D., Ill.) originally from the former British colony
of Kenya and a year previous, before being elected, was publicly fingered by me
as a British spy. His accomplice in Russia was Senator Richard Lugar (R., Ind.).
Putin had both of their passports seized and the two senators were kept for a
while in custody of the FSB, the new Russian secret political police.

My dive into Skolnick having ended, I must say that it was quite a read. He appears to be mostly week sourced nd believable until he lets his distaste of selfishness obsess him.

Near the end he was drawing conclusions for the reader instead of letting the reader make up his/her mind. He begins referencing Noory and his late night guests.

He has other stuff but, I have a good understanding at this point. He’s someone we should raise our eyes to and not dismiss him as another...um...Qooq.
