I would hope so as well. I wonder how random it is. What percentage of beach goers get it? A few years back, a friend had the flesh eating bacteria and ended up in the hospital. He didnt get it at the beach. He was in swampy water. There were a bunch of cases that year as I recall.
Wonder if it requires an open wound. Ugh. Guess it is a good idea to use anti-bacterial soap and plenty of it after swimming or tromping through a swamp. And getting to a physician who can recognize it early!
